Use the Force, Luke. Use the Force ...

"Would You Like To Have The Confidence You Can Hit A Jumpshot With Your Eyes Closed?"

Five seconds left on the clock, the ball’s in your hands at the left elbow, and you’re down by one. What would you give to have an unshakeable confidence in your shot no matter what defense they threw at you? Even if, God forbid, you got poked in the eye?

You remember the ending of the original “Star Wars” movie, don’t you? The rag-tag resistance forces are up against a highly organized evil empire who’s biggest weapon is the “Death Star”, a huge space station with firepower that looks like it would take out a planet. It’s still under construction, but the beast is almost finished.

Luke Skywalker the young Jedi knight apprentice is the best X-Wing fighterpilot the resistance has, and they’ve found a weakness in the design of the Death Star. All Luke has to do is avoid all the massive craft’s fighter planes and defenses, then navigate dozen’s of maze-like channels on the ships surface while being chased by Darth Vader, then deliver his torpedo into an unguarded ventilation shaft no bigger than a basketball.

After gut-wrenchingly masterful flying and getting help from Hans Solo in knocking out Vader, Luke is ready to use his high tech targeting computers to line up his almost impossible shot when he hears the voice of his mentor resounding in his head: “Use the force, Luke. Use the force”.

He is being asked to depend on the mental power, the feel, and the intuition he has developed through countless hours of his unconventional training. And of course, unless you’ve been living under a very dark rock you know how the story ends.

Luke lets go and trusts his instincts, hits the bullseye with his energy torpedo, and the Death Star goes up in a monster explosion while our hero soars away tasting the thrill of victory first hand.

What if you could become a Jedi knight at shooting hoops? That is essentially what Coach Tom Nordland’s DVD on the Swish Method of shooting can do for you. Instead of depending on having to master detailed shot mechanics first, you will learn to control the flight of the ball and to release your natural shot. There’s nothing wrong with learning proper mechanics, but this is a wholistic approach that gives you good results and confidence right off the bat. It’s like when you learn to speak English as a child long before you learn how to read and write it. Down the line you can always fine tune your shot mechanics if you feel that’s necessary. Meet Coach Tom "Obi Wan" Nordland

Tom was a high school star in Minnesota and is still considered one of the state’s all-time great shooters. A Midwest kid who spent nearly every free waking moment shooting baskets in his backyard or local parks, he figured out how to put the basketball into the basket consistently, even under the greatest of pressures.

His Roosevelt High team in Minneapolis won two straight state championships, and as a senior they went 28-0 and he averaged 27 points a game. He also hit 19 out of 20 free throws in the championship game, a record that still stands. He earned a scholarship to Stanford that year, and was a good student in computer engineering but never quite regained the shooting touch he had had in high school although he contributed in other ways.

16 years ago while working in Silicon Valley he decided to shoot some baskets for the first time in years on a lunch break. After a little warmup he was swishing everything he put up, from anywhere in his range. How was that possible some 32 years after high school?

Like a true high tech Stanford grad Tom began to experiment with his shot and research shooting in general. He tried out his ideas on himself and with kids he coached, and eventually his ideas for a book crystallized into the revolutionary one hour “Swish” video. Now Tom wants to help restore the “Lost Art of Shooting” to the basketball world.

If You Want To GET STARTED RIGHT AWAY

Be The Hero You’ve Always Wanted To Be

Maybe you don’t want to save the galaxy, but you’re in basketball to be a winner, aren’t you?

The quickest way for that to happen is for you to become the best shooter on your team.

Aren’t defense, passing, ball handling and all the other aspects of the game critically important, too? Absolutely, but you’re going to learn that from listening to your coaches and working hard.

Shooting percentages have been on the decline for decades though. With so much acrobatic one-on-one driving to the basket, and such an emphasis on the slam dunk many kids never learn to shoot a jumper right. And most coaches don’t have the time or expertise to teach shooting.

So the bottom line is you’re probably going to have to master shooting on your own. With the “Swish” DVD you can now have what you need to develop a rock hard firm foundation and solid confidence in your pure, natural shooter’s touch.

After All, Who Wouldn’t Want To Uncover The Secrets To Great Shooting And At The Same Time:

  • Develop an unshakeable confidence that will carry over into whatever else you want to do

  • Be “the man” or “the woman” at your school or in your league

  • Get that scholarship you (and your parents) have been hoping for

  • Bring home bragging rights over your local rival

  • Get the chicks, guys. Just like they dig the long ball in baseball, they dig shooters in hoops

  • As a lady hoopster earn instant respect from the guys

  • Know you’ve been a huge part of winning your league, your conference, big tournaments, even state and national championships.

  • Sink free throw after free throw in clutch situations

  • Become a team leader and captain

  • Blow through to the next level

  • Get preferred seating at local restaurants, and make life-long professional contacts

  • Feel like a winner and get a charge out of playing hoops. What’s more exciting than seeing that roundball swish through the net and knowing it came off your very own hands.

  • Have fun again playing the game you love so much

Doubters Welcome. This Is Quite A Paradigm Shift.

Maybe you’ve always believed shooters are born not made. Or believed it takes thousands of hours to develop a dependable shooting stroke. According to Coach Nordland though, that is just not the case. He says:
“The good news is that shooting basketball jump shots and free throws is an easy skill. It does not take thousands of hours to learn. It can be learned relatively quickly. Most players just have to unlearn the bad habits they've acquired.”

And:

"Anybody and everybody can learn this method and be a better shooter while excellent shooting, and even mastery, are possible to those who truly devote themselves to it."

But you don’t even have to take Coach Nordland’s word for it. Check out what others have said about his first video:

“Outstanding! Excellent! Swish is one of the best shooting videos I have ever seen!"
-- Bill Sharman, Boston Celtic legend, widely considered to be one of the greatest shooters ever

"I'd be happy to endorse your tape. Every NBA player should have a copy. It is sorely needed"
-- Pete Newell, legendary coach of the 1959 Nationall Champion University of California Bears and the 1960 gold-medal-winning Olympic team with Jerry West and Oscar Robertson

"I've spent 28 years coaching and have every available video on shooting, but none of them teaches how to achieve consistency and accuracy like Swish does. My girls learned more in the first hour than what used to take months."
-- W. Slobik, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

"I cannot recommend this method highly enough in assisting any player improve their shot. Thanks for opening the door on some of the most exciting changes/advancements in shooting for 20 years!"
-- Peter Lonergan, Frankston & District Basketball Association, Australia

"Hi Tom, I just wanted to let you know that I purchased your video last summer for my two boys who are now in 6th and 8th grade. My oldest son took the video to heart since he is one of the smaller (late bloomer/youngest in his class) kids on his team. He watched the video several times and practiced consistently over the summer. He really has developed a soft shot with a nice arch. He made his 8th grade A team and then was selected for his AAU team. Before he was afraid to take a shot because he thought there was a better chance of missing, however now he knows there is a good chance of success and really has become more confident.

"My younger son, who has always been one of the bigger kids in his class and has always been successful, only watched the video once and was a little skeptical because he thought he already knew everything. Now that he has seen his older brother's success, I see him out practicing your video more. It was a perfect time for my older son to buy into your philosophy and have success as next year there will be about 25 kids trying out for 12 freshman spots.
"Thanks again!"

-- Tony P.

"Dear Tom, I would just like to thank you for the creation of your video. It has changed not only my shot but my entire game for the better. I'm a 16 year old from Australia who has been playing basketball for 6 years. Before purchasing your video I was a 15 year old (got your video on my birthday) scrub who averaged 11ppg for a division 2 club side and for my high school side I did well at keeping the bench warm. A year and 9 months later I am averaging 31 ppg for a division 1 club side and 24 ppg for my high school side. I am now considered one of the best small forwards in the state, and I'm aiming to represent my state by the end of 2005.

"This rapid improvement doesn't seem likely but I think many people, perhaps even yourself (though I doubt it), do not realize the effects that this video has on a player's entire game. For me my new shot was almost instant. After a week of constant shooting using your video's principles I was dishing up high arching consistent beautiful shots. My new shot inspired me to train harder in every other part of my game. It was like "man this game isn't as hard as I thought it was, if I just train hard and try to do things the right way i'll get better." So that's what I did. My new shot made me enjoy playing the game more, it gave me confidence. My training workload has increased by 6 hours a week since I purchased your video. I most definitely blame your video for inspiring my new found work ethic and love of the game.

"Thanks again Tom for all your help."

-- Kane H., Australia

"Hi Tom, Just wanted to give you an update on the boys. Victor, who's a sophomore, was told in tryouts by the varsity coach that he is " our best shooter." He's hoping to make varsity! Donny, 8th Grade, is playing on his first AAU team and was also told that he has the best form on the team!

"Mikey, 6th grade, will start playing on his school team soon and has shown great improvement. Thanks again Tom!

"The boys are getting to be 'automatic!'"

-- Don V.

"Swish is a must see for anyone who wants to improve their shooting!"
-- Morgan Wooten, Head Coach, DeMatha High School, Washington D.C. Compiled a 1,274-192 (.868) record, first all-time among high school basketball coaches and the highest winning percentage in the country. Hall of Fame Oct. 2000.

"I think it [the Swish video] is excellent. I would recommend it highly for players and coaches on any level."
-- Lute Olson, University of Arizona (1997 National Champions)

I’ve Already Got A Coach. Why Do I Need Someone Else?

Well, what we’ve been doing in the basketball world doesn’t seem to have been working all that well. Even at the highest levels. Witness our 2004 Dream Team limping home with the bronze medal, and the US team only managing a 6th place finish at the last World Championships.

After all, baseball uses specialty coaches. Hitting and pitching coaches are becoming more common, even at the high school level. Football has long used position coaches. It’s time for basketball to come into the 21st century. The first thing we need is teaching the beginner or average guy can understand and benefit from quickly. But we also need instruction all skill levels can relate to, and we all need an enthusiastic, fresh approach to shooting. The Swish Method does all that and more. According to Coach Nordland himself what matters most in the act of shooting is accuracy and distance control. In other words how to get the shot ON LINE and with the APPROPRIATE DISTANCE.

Also important is an understanding of height (arch) and how it affects the landing of the ball and the effective size of the target. Also how the "shooter's roll" is created.

Also your mental state and your confidence play a huge part. A calm mind will allow you to perform closer and closer to your potential. Doubt and fear will almost always interfere with you performing at your best.

The Swish Method is mostly about the simple, physical things you can do to give you solid shooting technique. Once you have that down, then the mental stuff will follow. You will start to trust yourself, even under great pressure. Then extraordinary performance become possible ... all the time, not just in streaks.

Personally I think Coach Nordland’s a little out of his mind pricing such a powerful product at only $29.95. I’m a little worried people might think it’s a lightweight offering, but believe me it’s quite the opposite. The man has his reasons though, and I’m going to honor them.

I know coach wants to make the Swish I video available to as many shooters as possible whether they’re in the most prosperous countries in the world or the poorest developing nations, and I respect that. That means for the price of a good basketball you can learn how to be a superior shooter. You can’t beat that, so stand up and take advantage of his generosity and help spread the word.
