And You Thought You Were Busy

Today is the busiest day of the year according to
the post office. Over 900 million items mailed.
Mostly cards and gifts I would imagine.

I feel like I've already gotten a big Christmas gift
with the Florida Gators getting to play for the
National Championship in college football. The
Gators have the rare opportunity of winning a
national title in both basketball and football in
the same season. I don't think it's ever been
done before.

Those athletes have worked their butts off and
have overcome a lot of adversity (and made their
luck sometimes) to get to this point. I know they
deserve it, but you can make a good case for the
Michigan Wolverines too. The two were just
separated by one-thousandth of a point in the
convoluted BCS system.

It's time for a playoff. There will always be some
controversy on who gets into a playoff, but I'd
rather the controversy be with the 7th and 8th
ranked teams than with the 2nd and 3rd.

I feel a little bad for my buddy John Wood who
played some ferocious defensive end for Michigan
a couple of years ago, but I know John's not
whining about it. He's is a winner in every sense of
the word, and he knows grumbling and complaining
have no place in the life of a champion.

If you want to be a champion shooter you should
study the lives of great shooters, but also successful
people in all walks of life. You can learn from all of
them. Success is success wherever you find it, and
success leaves clues.

Another friend of mine J.P. Maroney who is a joint
venture broker and business coach says two major
stumbling blocks that keep people from getting
what they want are:

1. Pouting about the past
2. Doubting the future

And the two are interconnected. If you can't let go
of the junk from your past you'll drag it into the
present, and it will almost always cloud your future.

Think about it.

Coach Stan Kellner is a master at training you to
rebound from bad shots. As great as that is you'll
also be learning how to bounce back from your
other failures and missteps. And that's just one of
dozens of powerful mental breakthroughs you can
experience listening to Stan.

You'll never be the same again when you get a
taste of what's possible with just you, a basketball
and a hoop today at:

P.S.S. Notice how these grippers make perfect
stocking stuffers for the athletes in your life, and
really who doesn't want to sport a King Kong grip
when they're shaking hands.

And you can now even get in-between sizes for
every strength level. Start using these puppies, and
you'll never worry about getting balls stripped out of
your hands again.

Sit Still, Junior

How many times has your mother or a teacher
ever told you to sit still? Remember that?

Well, that's exactly what I'm going to ask you to
do in a minute, but for a far different reason.
You were probably embarrassing your mother.
We're going to work on developing your power
of focus.

This will help any and all of us, but if you happen
to be what some would call ADHD or hyper, this
may be tough, but you will benefit the most from it.

First I want you to do a simple deep breathing
exercise to put you in a more laid-back, reflective
state.

Stand with feet shoulder-width apart with hands
at your sides. Inhale to a 4-count while you lift
your arms up and out with palms facing up till
fingertips meet overhead with palms down. Then
exhale to a 6-count while pressing hands down
like you're squeezing air out of your lungs.
Repeat till you feel more relaxed.

Now sit in a comfortable chair and see how still
you can be. This is not as easy as it sounds. You
will have to center your attention to sitt still.
Watch and see that you are not making any
involuntary muscular movements. With a little
practice you will find you can sit still for 15
minutes. At first I advise 5 though. After you
are able to keep perfectly still, increase
the time. But never strain yourself.
You want to be relaxed.

Also try doing the breathing exercise before you
start your shooting practice. See if your focus isn't
better.

Stan Kellner teaches you how to use focus as the
first step in his Ultimate Shooting Method DVD.
If you've wondered how your form can look good,
but you still miss too many shots Stan has the
answers for you. Hint: It's all in your head, but
don't take my word for it. See the new Stan the
Man at:

Shoot For the Stars,

Dean - The Dean of Shooting Hoops

P.S. It also takes a lot of focus and concentration
to close the graduated resistance hand grippers
available from strongman extraordinaire John
Wood.

Have you gotten yours yet? Talk about a work-
out that is fun, but practical. Strong hands will
make you a winner, hands down. See how today

I Have Gas

You might remember my other passion besides
hoops is music. I played in a band called 'The
Lavender Hill Mob' which made good money and
was regionally popular in the Kentucky, Indiana,
Illinois tri-state area in the late 60's and early 70's.

I played rhythm guitar then, and switched to bass
in the early 80's in another band. I still play in a
rockin' worship band, and occasionally in a blues
all-star band.

Almost every musician I know has bad GAS.

Gear Aquisition Syndrome we call it. We're always
looking for the latest and greatest, (or oldest and
most-classic) guitars, basses, amps, strings, pre-
amps, effects pedals, etc. You name it. We want it.

Heck, there's even a cottage industry out there
pushing super high-tech guitar cords. Forum
boards fill up with people arguing about this kind
of stuff.

The thinking is, if I get X, Y, or Z that will make me
the player I want to be. Nothing wrong with good
equipment, mind you, but guitar playing is more
about your hands and your soul.

So please don't fall into that GAS mentality with your
shooting. You don't need to be looking for the flavor
of the month. Shooting is all about meat and potatoes
fundamentals.

One of the reasons I choose the products I do is
because they stress fundamentals. They have
staying power and fulfill a unique need in your
training. Otherwise I don't carry them.

Not just physical fundamentals either. Lee Milteer has
a book called, "Success Is An Inside Job", and that is
SO TRUE.

Coach Stan Kellner really knows how to teach those
inner fundamentals for basketball. His new shooting
DVD actually shows you how to become a shooting
machine. You still have to take what he gives you,
put it into action, and make it your own, but all the
raw materials are there for super stardom.

Find your inner fundamentals today at:

P.S. There is nothing more fundamental than your
hands, and nothing trains your hands like the graded
