Don't Forget To Vote

November 7th was election day here in the good ole
USA, and I hope you voted. But if not, don't come
crying to me. It is a big deal, and I take my voting
seriously.

If you didn't vote though I've got some good news
for you. You're not stuck with the results It's not
too late to still vote.

I'm talking about an even more important vote. One
you should be making every day.

I'm talking about voting to say yes to your
worthwhile dreams, visions, and burning desires.
As most philosophers, thinkers, and doers in
history have believed, that is the start of all
achievement. And deciding to vote yes to your
future will be the start of something big for you
too.

I believe learning to translate your dreams into
reality is the most important ability you can have
in life, and they don't teach that in any school I've
ever heard of.

I'm not knocking education, but if you want a real
education in what counts most I recommend a
course based on one of the premier self-help books
of all time, 'Psycho-Cybernetics' by Dr. Maxwell
Maltz.

The course uses 12 CD's and 2 large workbooks to
teach Dr. Maltz' ideas in a fun, easy, practical format
which makes forming new habits and change a breeze.

You can struggle, strive, and stress over your life or
you can discover 'Zero Resistance Living' today if
you'll hop on over to:

How To Be A Human Dynamo

One of the toughest courses I had in college was
'Electro-Magnetic Fields and Waves'. Maxwell's
equations, calculus, integrals, and all that jazz. We
had to calculate field strengths on all kinds of
weird objects, like iron doughnuts with wires
wrapped through their holes, except we called
them torroids.

The biggest thing I remember though was real,
usable, active power wasn't created till something
moved. You could have tons of potential energy.
You could have all the fields you wanted, and they
could be intensely strong, but until you moved a
wire or a coil through that field, or moved the field
around a wire no electricity was created. No work
was done.

Until there was movement no power was released.

We work the same way. You know I'm all for
positive, constructive thoughts which focus on your
dreams and desires. And you need to charge those
thoughts with positive feelings and vibrations.

Many people do one or both of those, but you also
have to take action in the direction of your dreams
if you're going to have them in your life.

Notice you don't start with the motion step though.
If the field's not sufficiently built up, and you move
through it you'll just be wasting your energy.
Nothing much will happen. You'll be shooting
blanks.

I know you want to be a shooter, or a coach or
parent with great shooters under your care.
I promise if you just learn to picture what you
want in detail, see and feel yourself having it,
and take enough action steps toward it you
will be amazed at what you are capable of.

And you will usually need help and support. I
found mine in a 12 CD, 2 workbook course
called 'Zero Resistance Living' from the
Psycho-Cybernetics Foundation.

Don't be scared of the name. Its just a phrase
Dr. Maltz coined in the 60's from two Greek
words meaning 'Steering the Mind'. The
foundation is dedicated to preserving and
furthering his work on how we humans set
and reach our worthy goals.

The better you understand how to use your
mental tools, the more dynamic your life
becomes. Take the time today to find out how
you can get ahold of this priceless information at:

Masters Of The Universe

'Master's Of The Universe' the 1987 movie
adaptation of the 'He-Man and the Masters of the
Universe' children's TV cartoon sounds like it
would be cheesy, but it's not.

It's a surprisingly good movie. If you like science
fiction, fantasy, comic books, or graphic novels
you will like it.

It's curious though that when we talk about mastery
these days we put it in terms of a cartoon or a
fantasy. It's not something we dwell on very often.
Today's society thinks more in terms of the quick fix,
fast buck, and instant success.

Mastery, on the other hand, requires patience and
dedication over time. It's all about the process and
has long term goals, but is most concerned with
daily improvement.

George Leonard, author of the book 'Mastery'
describes it as, 'the mysterious process during which
what is at first difficult becomes progressively easier
and more pleasurable through practice.'

If mastery's what you want you've come to the right
place. Coach Tom Nordland talks a lot about it in his
shooting camps, and the Swish Method naturally
builds it. See how he can inspire you to a true love
of practicing and perfecting your shot today at:

Shoot For The Stars,

Dean - The Dean of Shooting Hoops

P.S. You can't really master the universe. That's an
egotistical fantasy worthy only of the likes of a Lex
Luthor. But you can learn to flow with the
universe in the right way and produce tremendous
results in your life.

One exciting blueprint for making that happen is
found in a 12 week self-study course called 'Zero
Resistance Living' from the Psych-Cybernetics
Foundation though. I've seen it revolutionize my
life. You can too today at:

Resistance Is Futile

The fourth and final factor the Gunslinger shared
with me about his shooting success was allowing
his mind and body to relax.

He started relaxing with the familiarity and routine
of his pre-game rituals. He continued relaxation
techniques before the mental rehearsal of his
upcoming match. Then he got deeper into
relaxation during his controlled, deep breathing
routine.

Only then was Dwight ready to release himself
upon the competition at hand. You can do
likewise.

The secret, Dwight said was in knowing relaxed
minds and muscles both move more quickly and
accurately than tense ones. That's just common
sense, but it's been proven over and over in the
arena of competition.

Look at the greatest performers in whatever field
you want to think of. They all look like they are
barely trying. They make it look so easy. They
are cruising.

Part of that is because they have repeated the
movements so many times it IS easy. It's easier
for their muscle memory to do it right than to
mess it up. There is little or no resistance to
getting the results they want. The neural
pathways and muscles are trained and
conditioned to where the movement is quick,
automatic, and literally easy.

One of my favorite guitar players has always been
Duane Allman, founder of the Allman Brothers
Band. Of course I recognize Jimi Hendrix' talent
too, but of all the musical cats who died young I
think Duane's passing affected me the most. I am
facinated by what he had to say to Tom Dowd his
producer just days before his fatal motorcycle
ride.

"Just a little more, and this instrument is gonna
be so connected with my brain that my fingers
aren't gonna have to play it."

That was Duane's way of saying his body was no
longer resisting what his mind wanted to do. The
connection was there.

Repetition and relaxation the keys to that kind
of mastery.

Rest in peace, Brother Duane. You were right.

You can reach that kind of mastery in your life by
employing the principles of Psycho-Cybernetics as
taught by Dr. Maxwell Maltz.

And now the Foundation named for his methods
has pulled out all the stops in publishing an in-depth
comprehensive home-study course called "Zero
Resistance Living".

your success today by hustling over to:

emotions that keep you from doing your best.

Skeptics Welcome Here

I know some people are skeptical about all this
inner-game, mind power, cybernetics stuff. Even
though it has worked over and over in situations
from golfing to going to the moon, these people
haven't seen anything unexpected happening in
their lives.

Unless you can hit them over the head with the
mental equivalent of a 2 x 4, whatever you say,
their first response is to doubt.

"How do you know that's true?" is their mantra.

Maybe they all have some connection to Missouri,
the "Show Me" state.

I understand that mindset. I was trained in the
sciences and have a Master's Degree in Electronic
Engineering with a Digital Design emphasis from
the University of Missouri at Rolla. That's the way
we were taught to think. I've since found out
though it's just part of the big picture.

And that's not bad. It drives the scientific method,
and it protects us from scams. It's just limited.

To be consistent and intellectually honest though
shouldn't the skeptic eventually come to doubt his
own doubts. What if his assumptions are wrong?
What if the universe is not just an external,
objective, material reality.

What if it is subjective, fluid, and we are meant to
be co-creators of our own reality and future. If it
is even partially affected by our thoughts, beliefs,
feelings, and decisions then approaching it from a
position of doubt means you're guaranteed to cut
off a huge chunk of your potential. And in my
experience it would be the best part.

Tomorrow I'll show you how a skeptic can change
his stripes, but for those of you who are ready for
the big-time already Coach Stan Kellner wants to

How Imagination Trumps Terrorism

There's a new show on TV this fall called "Jericho".
It's about the people in a small town in Kansas who
see a mushroom cloud over Denver to the west and
find themselves cut off from the outside world not
knowing for sure the breadth of what is going on.
Nuclear terrorism is the implication, and you can
imagine the fear and panic that might arise in the
townspeople.

After they all make it through one crisis in the pilot
but are turning on one another the mayor of the
town needs to maintain order and rally the citizenry.
And the keynote of his message is this:

"Are we going to use our imaginations to solve
problems, or to cause them."

I'm not sure the writers of that show have any idea
how profound a statement that is, but in my mind
and experience it is radically true. You can use your
thoughts and imagination to make situations better,
or to make them worse. Every time. Believe it or
not, you have that kind of power.

When Dr. Maxwell Maltz wrote "Psycho-
Cybernetics" fifty years ago athletes were among
the first to to prove it's ideas true in scientific
studies and on the field of battle, and that is
happening more and more everyday.

As a shooter you have much evidence of the power
of your imagination. You're probably aware one of
the first documented studies of imagination practice
involved freethrow shooting. The group which only
practiced in their imagination had virtually the same
gains as the group which practiced shooting
mechanically everyday.

So I'm probably preaching to the choir on this one,
but if you're not hitting baskets in perfect form in
your mind on a daily basis you have left one of your
most powerful training weapons on the rack.

And that's just a beginning. Let Coach Stan Kellner
show you the vast array of mental tools at your
disposal in his new, "How To Become A Prime-Time
Shooting Machine" DVD. It's available today at:

P.S. Shooting hoops is tremendous training in how
to hit targets and goals of all kinds, be they spiritual,
mental, emotional, social, career, economic, health-
related, or physical. If you have the time maybe you
could eventually figure it for yourself and create a
wonderful life.

To help make a life-changing process like that easier

Why I Used To Hate Goals

For much of my life I've never really gotten into
goals. At least not the way achievers talked about
them. I've had vague directions I wanted to go in,
but I was more of a "play it by ear" kind of guy.
Goal setting to me seemed to take the spontaneity
out of living. It made me feel like I was a robot, or
something.

Because of that, I experienced a lot of the coasting
and drifting like I was talking about yesterday.
And yes, I've experienced the pain that comes
from living like that too.

Going with the flow eventually drowns your ambition
and your pleasure. I was living a black-and-white life.

One reason I was so resistant was I only saw goals
objectively. They were something sterile and
intellectual to me. I didn't realize how much joy you
could experience in setting and hitting goals. I just
saw them as mile markers on a hard road. No
wonder I resisted.

Not any more though. I've done a 180 and realize we
are all built-in goal seekers. And if we don't pursure
what we want we'll end up getting what we don't
want, by default.

I'm reading "The New Psycho-Cybernetics" which
is modernized, updated version of the 30 million
selling self-help classic. Dan Kennedy the multi-
millionaire speaker, business consultant, and direct
marketing wizard has done the updating because
the original book helped him overcome stuttering,
and develop the habit of success. I'm seeing things
in a new light, and recommend it highly.

One of the reasons I thought I wasn't goal-oriented
is much of it went on automatically in the
background. When I watch a 12 month old learning
to walk, and I see it clearly, but when I walk now I'm
not conscious of the goal behavior going on inside. It
is though.

As human beings we have the privilege of being able
to set meaningful, satisfying emotional goals - and
then to hit them.

Rick Rosser emailed me last night and was pumped
up about a new personal best in consecutive free
throws. I would be too, and I love hearing about
Rick's success and any of your successes.

He shot 1558 straight freethrows recently , and
now he's even more confident he can work up into
Guinness world-record territory. And as a truck
driver who travels around he's also hit more than
100 consecutive freethrows in 136 different
YMCA's across the land. That's probably a world
record already. You should check on that Rick.

Rick is excited about life, and you will be too
when you start setting some juicy goals that light
your fire.

Remember if you're not moving toward intentional
purposes, goals or dreams you're going to get the
leftovers and the hand-me-downs in life. Then
you're going to whine and complain which will
make it worse, and you're just not going to be
very happy at all.

Shoot For The Stars One Exciting Goal At A Time,

Dean - The Dean of Shooting Hoops

P.S. Dan Kennedy was also very instrumental in
compiling and bringing Psycho-Cybernetics to the
masses in a step-by-step workbook format that
anybody can follow and grow from. The course
called "Zero Resistance Living" turned my life
around, and I've I'm just beginning to scratch
the surface of it's possibilities.

Find out how you can live large today at:

P.P.S Dr. Maltz was a friend of Salvador Dali who

communicate that joy of living on canvas, and
how to get paid what he was worth.

to use power-filled words and beautiful music to
rise to new personal heights.

Use It Or Lose It

A number of years ago in a business I got to know
two brothers from South Florida. To maintain their
privacy I'll call them Chip and Dale.

A friend and I ended up training the 2 brothers so
we spent quite a bit of time with both of them, their
wives, and their children. Over time we heard their
life stories, and Chip and Dale were as different as
any two siblings could be.

Chip was ambitious, smart, respectful, fatherly,
generous, positive, prosperous, and loyal.

Dale was broke, working at a menial job, childless,
disrespected his wife, was usually negative, and
drank too much.

They had both had it rough growing up. An
abusive father, a mother who died, in foster homes
together, etc. I noticed one thing from hanging
around them so much though.

One of them had had gotten bitter, the other had
gotten better, much better. I'm sure you've heard
similar stories. They abound, and they all point out
a very important lesson.

You can use your past to make excuses and fail, or
use it to to motivate yourself and rise to success.

It's all up to you.

Shoot for the Stars

Dean - The Dean of Shooting Hoops

P.S. Chip sought out help dealing with his past.
You can too. "Zero Resistance Living" is a unique

A Change Is Gonna Come

We've got a dog named Merlin. We got him from an
animal shelter a couple of years ago, and he's a
middle-aged Lhasa Apso. Looks like a small
sheepdog. Very smart. They were originally bred
by monks and noblemen in Tibet and for 2000
years were watchdogs for the monasteries.

When we first got him Merlin liked to run out any
open door. One day we couldn't find him in the
house, but we did find the door to the garage
cracked open. Somebody hadn't shut it all the way
and wily Merlin had taken advantage.

I went looking in the neighborhood and as I
rounded one block I heard dogs fighting and
started running. Poor Merlin was cornered by
a huge mastif in a neighbor's yard, and a small
frail woman was holding on to the big dog's leash
like her life depended on it. And it looked to me
like it did.

We got the dogs untangled, and Merlin's little
heart was beating 90 miles an hour. I took him
home, and you know what? Since that day he's
been a different dog. No longer will he bolt out
of any open door.

There are two ways change happens. One you're
familiar with. It involves consistency and
repetition, and since personal change involves
discomfort much of the time, it's hard to change
that way. That's why habits are hard to break
and hard to establish.

But Merlin didn't have to use a bit of
willpower to change his behavior, did he?. Fear
took care of that in an instant.

I smoked cigarettes when I was in high school
and college. I'm not proud of it, but in Kentucky
those days almost everybody did. It wasn't even
that expensive. I know I smoked two packs a
day.

I had a girlfriend in college later though who I
really loved, and we were always together.
One day she looked at me with those tender,
gentle eyes and said, "If you care for me like
I know you do, why would you want to shorten
our life together?" Not spoken judgementally.
That wasn't her way, but believe me, I was
pierced to the core.

Do you know what happened next?

I quit cold turkey right then and there, and
had no cravings, no withdrawal, no temptation
to smoke at all. I haven't smoked once since,
and that's been 36 years.

Again too, notice. Not an ounce of willpower
involved. Instant change.

The key in both cases to effortless change was
the very same thing - a HIGHLY emotional
event.

Fear, maybe even terror, in Merlin's case, and
love in mine.

If you are trying to be a better shooter, better
coach, or better anything, you probably have
changes you want to make. But maybe you
don't happen to have a high-intensity emotional
event handy.

Not to fear. You do have your imagination, and
you can create motivating events. If you've tried
using your imagination to effect change before,
and gotten lackluster results it's probably because
you didn't understand the the emotional factor.

Remember the stronger emotion you let yourself
feel in your visualizations the more powerful result
you can achieve.

Now, if you'll excuse me I need to go play with
Merlin.

The Evolution of a Champion

Udonis Haslem, the undersized blue-collar NBA
power forward was in Gainesville yesterday. It
had been a couple of years since the last time he'd
come home to his alma mater. This time he was
walking taller than usual though. After all he was
a world-champion now.

Those who've known him since Miami Senior High
days though will tell you he's always had a
champion's heart.

He came to the University of Florida as an
unheralded recruit and led the Gators to four
straight NCAA tournament appearances. As a
chunky back-to-the basket center he even
propelled his team to the National Championship
game as a sophmore.

When the NBA passed on him out of college he chose
to play in Europe and used the time to lose 40 lbs,
develop a mid-range game, and become a beast as a
rebounder and defender.

By now you know Pat Riley and the Miami Heat
have taken a chance on this overachiever and have
been rewarded with one of the league's primo
warriors. He's a player who contributes in every
way as his 17 points, 10 rebounds, and defensive
job on Dirk Nowitzki in this year's championship
game attest.

For the past couple of weeks U.D. has been working
with shooting coach David Thorpe on extending his
shooting range.

'I have to do it because Shaq sucks up all the paint.'
Haslem jokes.

And Florida Gator coach Billy Donovan had this to
say about his former player:

'He's one of the guys who gets it. One thing I've
always respected about him is it's all about winning
with Undonis. He has found ways to evolve himself
and he's found a way to affect winning at the next
level. He's a warrior, mentally.'

One of the keys to long term success in anything is
being able to read the prevailing winds and adapting.
Like course corrections with a guided missle we all
have to zig zag ourselves to our eventual goals.

'Cybernetics' is the term author and plastic surgeon
Dr. Maxwell Maltz' coined for that kind of goal seeking
activity in the 60's. In fact, it comes from the Greek
word for steering a boat.

Psycho-Cybernetics then is how to use your thoughts,
imagination, and feelings to steer your life to desirable
goals.

For all you'll ever need to know about this process you
want to check out Dr. Maltz' lifetime work, the 'Zero
Resistance Living' course. It's available only at:

P.S. For all you'll ever need to know about how to use

of powerful information there on how to be the player

Livin' The No-Limit Life

Is poker as big where you are as it is in Florida?

Even in the retirement belt I think it is now more
popular than bingo. Churches who used to make
fun of Catholics for their favorite fundraising game
are now sponsoring charity poker tournaments of
their own.

A local businessman I know even runs an
organization called "Poker For A Purpose" which runs
monthly tournaments for a set of rotating charities.

Hundreds participate every month. Your entry fee is a
donation, and you can win prizes donated by local
merchants. My wife Joan and I have made a few final
tables ourselves. It's still close but no cigars for me, but
she came in third and won a nice IPOD in June.

It's also really big with the college crowd. Cash games
are illegal in Florida, but I saw recently where two
popular watering holes are offering nightly games with
free buy-in where you can accumulate points good for
food and beverages.

And the game of choice is the one that's been
popularized on ESPN's World Series of Poker -
No-Limit Texas Hold'Em.

Since poker's been with us a long time I've got a
suspicion it's the 'No-Limit' part that fascinates
us so much. There is something exhilarating about
being able to go 'all in' and win big at any time.

Wouldn't it be great if we could live our lives in no-
limit mode more often too? There are many times
where if we did, especially on the basketball court
we would come out winners.

Everybody I know lives with limiting beliefs though.
Well not everybody. A few adults and most of the
kids I know don't, but it's hard to grow up and not
get socialized and saddled with other people's well-
intentioned limitations.

Not wanting you to get hurt they try to build a
protective bubble around you. Or maybe they just
project their scarcity mentality, worries, and fears
on you because they know of no other way.
Perhaps too, many of your limitations are self-
imposed.

The late Dr. Maxwell Maltz dealt with limitations
from all angles in his classic 'Psycho-Cybernetics'
success book. It has sold over 30 million copies
since it debuted in the 60's.

Now his heirs and the folks at the Psycho-
Cybernetics Foundation have compiled all Dr.
Maltz lectures and writings (including handwritten
notes) into the ultimate lifestyle course they call
'Zero Resistance Living'.

ZRL is simple enough you can see positive results in
a matter of minutes, but as your experience grows it
is complete enough to use for the rest of your life.

Start your no-limit lifestyle today by pushing your
chips in at:

Shoot For the Stars,

Dean - The Dean of Shooting Hoops

P.S. Most likely you have settled for limits in your
basketball game too. Coach Stan Kellner has spent a
lifetime teaching players how to blast through those
limits and reach for the prize inside.

There is probably no physical reason you can't shoot
like the best in the game, for instance. If you can learn
to think like the pure shooter, you can shoot like he
does.

Don't be a 'know-it-all' and not ask for help. Let Stan
guide you and obliterate your limits today at:

How Not To Hit A Homerun

When I played Little League baseball there was a
big husky kid named Carl M. Carl was a catcher
and a darn good one. An all-star.

Carl had a big weakness at the plate though, and
even at that level most of the pitchers in the league
knew about it.

You see Carl had hit two home runs in his first two
games, and the rest of the season he was addicted
to the long ball. He tried to murder every pitch that
came over the plate and most of them that didn't.

Truth is, most of the time Carl was an easy out.

Truth is you will be too, if you think like Carl.

You should be moving in the direction of your
goals every day, but you don't have to swing for the
fence every time you're at bat. You probably don't
need a grand slam today.

It's more important to do the little things well, and
do them consistently than it is to make the big
score. In fact, it's the little victories along the way
that prepare you for the big pushes when you need
to make them.

If you savor your victories as they come and
celebrate them passionately you will build a winning
attitude, and also be able to handle the inevitable
adversity with power and grace. And you will get
to your long-term goal that much faster.

In his Prime Time Shooting DVD Coach Stan Kellner
says it's more important you learn how to miss a shot
than how to make one.

Think about it. I had to. But if missing puts you in a
big funk it's awfully hard to build any kind of lasting
confidence. And without confidence you are dead
meat.
