A Promise Kept
In one of my early emails I told you 'Hoosiers' was
my second favorite movie and promised one day
I'd talk about my all-time fave.
It happens to be another sports flick, and an
Academy Award winner. My favorite line from
it is:
'I believe God made me for a purpose, but I also
believe he made me fast, and when I run, I can feel
His pleasure.
The movie, of course, is 'Chariots of Fire'.
There is a very real sense of accomplishment and
pleasure when you are in that relaxed performance
state commonly called 'the zone'. Anything you do
will be better done if you are relaxed. And feel-
good brain chemicals are released too.
It's what the Psycho-Cybernetics Foundation calls
'Zero Resistance', and one of your primary missions
as an athlete should be to learn how to get in that
state and stay there.
In his book 'Sacred Hoops' Phil Jackson talks about
how during time outs he gets his players to mentally
relax and concentrate on what he is saying by
leading them in a quickie visualization he calls 'safe
spot'.
While they are grabbing a drink and toweling off he
encourages them to take a short mental vacation
and visit that place in their imagination where they
feel most relaxed and secure.
Now some people think Phil is a bit of a kook, but
who can argue with his results. His 9 NBA title-
winning teams tie him with Red Auerbach for the
most ever.
Now you see why I think so highly of what Stan
Kellner teaches. If you want to understand how to
maximize your mind power to win games, his book
and basketball visualization CD are unbeatable.
And if you want to become automatic as a shooter
his Ultimate Shooting Method DVD is a must.

Foundation. It's 556 pages and 12 CD's will show
you how to live a friction free lifestyle no matter
what challenges you face.
