I Have Gas

You might remember my other passion besides
hoops is music. I played in a band called 'The
Lavender Hill Mob' which made good money and
was regionally popular in the Kentucky, Indiana,
Illinois tri-state area in the late 60's and early 70's.

I played rhythm guitar then, and switched to bass
in the early 80's in another band. I still play in a
rockin' worship band, and occasionally in a blues
all-star band.

Almost every musician I know has bad GAS.

Gear Aquisition Syndrome we call it. We're always
looking for the latest and greatest, (or oldest and
most-classic) guitars, basses, amps, strings, pre-
amps, effects pedals, etc. You name it. We want it.

Heck, there's even a cottage industry out there
pushing super high-tech guitar cords. Forum
boards fill up with people arguing about this kind
of stuff.

The thinking is, if I get X, Y, or Z that will make me
the player I want to be. Nothing wrong with good
equipment, mind you, but guitar playing is more
about your hands and your soul.

So please don't fall into that GAS mentality with your
shooting. You don't need to be looking for the flavor
of the month. Shooting is all about meat and potatoes
fundamentals.

One of the reasons I choose the products I do is
because they stress fundamentals. They have
staying power and fulfill a unique need in your
training. Otherwise I don't carry them.

Not just physical fundamentals either. Lee Milteer has
a book called, "Success Is An Inside Job", and that is
SO TRUE.

Coach Stan Kellner really knows how to teach those
inner fundamentals for basketball. His new shooting
DVD actually shows you how to become a shooting
machine. You still have to take what he gives you,
put it into action, and make it your own, but all the
raw materials are there for super stardom.
